La transformation de Baluchon (3ème partie) / Baluchon's transformation (Part 3)
La voilà enfin. Après plusieurs semaines d'intenses préparations, petit retour sur la fin de la transformation de Baluchon. Avant de se pencher sur les détails, nous avons repeint le hayon afin que ce soit plus joli et surtout plus discret. La peinture à la bombe, c'est un art que nous ne maitrisons pas, et le moins qu'on puisse dire c'est que ça se voit. Bon avec le recul, on se dit que le résultat n'est quand même pas si mal.
Finally. After several weeks of intense preparations, here is a little feedback on the end of Baluchon's transformation. Before starting with the details, we painted over the hatchback to make it prettier but mostly more discrete. Spraypainting is an art we do not master and the least we can say is that it is obvious. Well, with hindsight we don't find it that bad at all.
Ensuite, dans le désordre, nous avons isolé un compartiment pour en faire une glacière passive, installé quelques vide-poches et découpé deux planches pour agrandir la couchette : en mode nuit, les planches s'emboitent entre la banquette et le meuble cuisine pour créer une grande couchette. En mode jour, elles se glissent sur la banquette pour libérer l'accès. On a même ajouté une petite touche de confort avec une bande de lino au sol pour pouvoir marcher pieds nus et faciliter le nettoyage.
Then, we isolated a compartment to make it a passive cooler, set up small storage areas and carved two planks to expand the berth: in night mode, the planks fit between the bench and the kitchen module to create a large berth. In day mode, the planks slide over the bench to free access. We even added a small touch of comfort with a strip of linoleum on the ground to walk bare-foot and ease cleaning.
Baluchon a aussi eu droit à un petit check-up mécanique : changement des pneus arrières, des flexibles de frein et d'une biellette de direction, le tout assorti d'une vidange du liquide de frein et du liquide de boite.
Baluchon was also entitled to a mechanical check-up: change of back wheels, brake hoses and a steering rod, completed with brake fluid and steering fluid change.
L'aménagement s'est fait petit à petit jusqu'au départ du camion : matelas clic-clac, réchaud et bouteille de gaz, bidons, matériel mécanique, rideaux, pharmacie... Les photos manquent car nous avons été un peu pressés par le temps, mais voici un aperçu final. On en postera peut-être au fil du voyage.
Furnishing was carried out little by little until departure of the van: convertable matress, camping stove and gas bottle, jerrycans, mechanical equipment, curtains, pharmacy... We lack pictures because we have been a bit in a rush but here's an overview. We might post pictures during our trip.
Pour une première, nous sommes assez contents du résultat final. On espère qu'on sera bien dans notre petit Baluchon pour les 10 prochains mois. Everything was ready for the D day and Baluchon's first big test: the trip to Le Havre.
